It's a youthful story with the college campus as the backdrop and centers on the bonding between three friends played by Shaam, Nitya Das and Samiksha. 'Manathodu Mazhaikalam' is Shaam's next release after 'ABCD'.
The film, produced by Antony for E L K Productions, is scripted and directed by Arbhuthan. "It's a campus story with a difference," says the director and adds that the climax scene is sure to take the audience by susrprise.
Shooting has been going on at locations in Chennai and Chalakudi. A song was picturised at Athirampalli falls on Shaam and Samiksha, with dance choreography by Nobel. The unit members recall how while the song was shot, the lead pair had been nearly carried away by the torrent of water, but Shaam's presence of mind had saved the duo.
A campus scene was also shot on the lead actors at a ground near Jain College. Samiksha plays a talkative college student, while Nitya's role is the more sober one.
The supporting cast has Jaisurya, Vinodraj, T P Gajendran, Jayamurali, Anjalidevi, K S Rajan, Narasimahan, Akila, Marina, Shrija, Devika, Vijayasingh, 'Kadhal' Kanna, Mettur Sekhar and Ganesh Babu.
The technical credits include music by Kartikraja, cinematography by Raghav, editing by Raja Muhammed, and sets by Umesh K Rumesh.
Success has been evading Shaam for long and he is yet to have a big hit. Hopefully, this campus caper will prove a turning point in his career.
